On Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and vaccine use...sleeping environment is the main risk, vaccines show no increased risk

That quote comes from a new review of the current understanding of the risk factors for SIDS.

SIDS is the leading cause of death in infants aged 1 month to 1 year in the United States.

While we don't know everything about SIDS yet, this review tells us that we do know some major risk factors for infants include:
  • prone and side sleeping
  • soft bedding
  • bed sharing
  • inappropriate sleep surfaces (including sofas)
  • exposure to tobacco smoke
  • prematurity
Protective factors include breastfeeding, pacifier use, room sharing, and immunizations.
In other words, vaccinating your child is not a cause of SIDS.

Facts matter because life matters.

Thoughtful sites...

On this page I hope to link together pages that have addressed a single issue about vaccines or vaccine components and given it some expert thought. I'll try and group these pages under headings.

These are, at the end of the day, personal sites rather than those supported by public health or governmental authority. They make the cut here on VaaMoF if I've read them through and liked the way they have communicated their message. They are often long reads - so visit here with a coffee. Or two.

Untrustworthy sources...

These are sites that make a strong case against the use of vaccines for reasons that are not supported by science or medicine. I call those untrustworthy. I have also heard of them described as as lying or misrepresenting the truth for some sort of personal gain.

The statements presented as fact are often not and they seem to be written only to support a foregone conclusion rather than to present a balanced case - in many instances there is clearly another side to their case; usually it is the side backed by a large body of scientific observation and evidence that has not been discussed or referenced.

You can't ignore the science - but you can always question it and devise ways to improve upon what is known.
